Washington, D.C. — Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on President Biden’s announcement concerning climate change.
“The Biden Administration should work with Congress, not go around it. It was noteworthy when the Supreme Court ruled that the Obama administration acted outside its statutory authority in how it implemented the Clean Air Act. If the Biden administration is looking to take similar action with today’s announcement by going around Congress, I have serious concerns.
“Rather than issue threats to abuse his executive power, President Biden should abandon his war on American energy and get to work with Congress to fix the problems he’s created including raging inflation, broken supply chains, and looming energy blackouts. His agenda on unreliable and unaffordable energy is making life difficult for the hardworking people of this country.
“America has led the world to raise people’s standard of living and reduce carbon emissions with a strategy that celebrates American energy abundance and technological innovation. That’s why President Biden should be flipping the switch on our domestic energy production, not shutting it down.”
