House Energy & Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) spoke with Hugh Hewitt urging President Biden to flip the switch on American energy to counter Putin, stand by Ukraine, and create jobs here at home.

ON THE PRESIDENT’S SOTU
“It fell flat on the floor. Clearly, the President just doubled down on his socialist agenda.”
“[President Biden] is failing to say that American energy is the solution to pushing back on Putin. We all know that Putin’s economy, Russia’s economy, is entirely dependent upon energy production and exports. Our greatest weapon against Putin and his aggression right now in Ukraine… is for us to unleash American energy, for us to flip the switch.
“[Biden] has completely blocked our efforts to put energy on the table.”
ON THE AMERICAN ENERGY INDEPENENCE FROM RUSSIA ACT
“My plea to Biden is to open up American energy. We should be permitting…liquefied natural gas plants that have been waiting over a year for their permit. We should be saying yes. Many of those permits, four out of the six, are actually targeting our ability to export LNG to Europe.”
“We should be saying yes to the Keystone pipeline. President Biden on day one blocked after the Keystone pipeline had been permitted. He blocked this pipeline that would allow us to bring in crude oil from Canada and instead he continues to allow for Russia to provide oil to the United States.”
ON HOW PUTIN FUNDS HIS WAR CHEST
“Energy drives their economy. That’s where Putin has gotten the money to fund his military and his aggression.”
“It’s President Putin that through the years has been funding the NGOs, the non-governmental organizations, in Europe that are anti-fracking.”
“New technology that has been developed in America that really has opened up the shale revolution and the natural gas explosion that has been driving down our carbon gas emissions but Putin wants Europe to continue to be dependent upon him so that funds his economy.”
“What our businesses need is relief from the command and control that this administration is imposing upon them. [Biden] has no plan to address inflation. He takes no ownership that it has been the record government spending that is driving inflation right now, that is driving the cost of gas at the pump and how much we’re paying at the grocery store.
“I know in Eastern Washington it is having a real impact and it is all across this country. This especially hits the low- and middle-income Americans, those that truly are living paycheck to paycheck, trying to make ends meet.”
