Chairs Rodgers and Latta Announce Subcommittee Hearing on Improving Cybersecurity for U.S. Communications Networks
Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chair Bob Latta (R-OH) announced a subcommittee hearing titled “Safeguarding Americans' Communications: Strengthening Cybersecurity in a Digital Era.”
“Every day, there are more than 2,200 cyberattacks on communications infrastructure in the United States—averaging nearly one attack every 39 seconds. Many of these threats originate from foreign adversaries, like communist China, that exploit vulnerabilities in our networks and compromise our national security,” said Chairs Rodgers and Latta. “The increasing frequency and complex nature of these attacks underscores the importance of strengthening network resiliency and leveraging the expertise of federal agencies and industry to address these threats. We look forward to this hearing where members will hear from experts and stakeholders about what steps they are taking to safeguard Americans, respond to attacks, and mitigate future risks.”
