Rodgers, Latta Commend Bipartisan Legislation to Enhance Transparency of Programs that Promote Affordable Internet Access

Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Republican Leader Bob Latta (R-OH) released the following statement commending the passage of bipartisan legislation to improve oversight of the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) Affordable Connectivity and Lifeline Programs.

“Proper oversight is essential to ensuring taxpayer dollars are being spent responsibly and going to the communities that need it most. That is how we close the digital divide. We commend the bipartisan leadership on the Ensuring Phone and Internet Access Through Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity Program Act of 2022, which improves congressional oversight of FCC programs to ensure all Americans have access to reliable, affordable broadband services.”

Ensuring Phone and Internet Access Through Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity Program Act of 2022 (H.R. 4275) passed en bloc by a vote of 381-39.
