Energy and Commerce is leading the charge to protect patients from surprise medical billing. 1-in-5 ER visits in the United States result in a surprise medical bill.
E&C under the leadership of Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) is conducting investigations and have held a hearing and crafted legislation to protect Americans from this terrible practice.
"People are getting ripped off and we are going to protect patients from surprise billing — we are committed to seeing this through," committee leaders said in a joint op-ed.
