Biden Administration Must Stop Abusing Emergency Powers

Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Health Republican Leader Brett Guthrie (R-KY) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra announced the Biden administration’s notice to unwind the Monkeypox Public Health Emergency in 60 days:

“The Biden administration should follow up its decision to end the Monkeypox Public Health Emergency by announcing its plan to unwind the COVID-19 emergency as well. The administration continues to damage Americans’ trust in our public health agencies as they continue to send conflicting messages about the state of the pandemic. President Biden himself declared the pandemic to be over; it’s time his administration follows suit.”
