NEWS: Media Outlets Report on the Introduction of the Energy Tax Prevention Act


Republican Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan, chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released his long-awaited draft of legislation to block the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) regulations on carbon Wednesday evening. Upton was joined by Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield of Kentucky, chair of the Energy and Power subcommittee, and Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, in releasing the proposal.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) released a “discussion draft” Wednesday afternoon that would permanently block the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to issue climate change regulations… The draft would “amend the Clean Air Act to prohibit the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from promulgating any regulation concerning, taking action relating to, or taking into consideration the emission of a greenhouse gas due to concerns regarding possible climate change, and for other purposes.”
