Opening Up America Again: EPA, CDC Release New Guidelines to Clean and Disinfect Surfaces During COVID-19

Washington, DC – During COVID-19, Americans’ homes have become the epicenters of our daily lives, and people are wisely taking caution and following public health recommendations. Individuals are working from home. Health care workers are facing this virus on the front lines. Researchers and scientists are working around the clock to create more tests and a vaccine. Communities across the nation are exploring ways to safely reopen again while keeping people healthy and safe.

As we enter the next phase and discussions focus on reopening the country and the economy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today released updated guidance to ensure Americans from coast to coast can effectively clean and disinfect surfaces in homes, workplaces, businesses, schools, and public spaces. The EPA has also publicized a list of more than 300 approved disinfectant products for safely fighting  against COVID-19. This guidance will allow people to continue taking precautionary measures to stay healthy and safe.

This guidance was put together with the White House and follows its Opening Up America Again strategy.
